Our story

Why ViewClix builds senior-friendly smart frames for family connection.

We believe older adults should be able to feel close to family without having to learn, troubleshoot, or manage technology.

Our heart

Why ViewClix?

Connection should feel simple, familiar, and human.

ViewClix began with a family trying to stay close across the country. The need was not more technology. The need was a better way for photos, faces, and everyday moments to reach a loved one when technology had become too much.

Why we built ViewClix

Rob's family needed something easier.

The idea for ViewClix came from one of our founders, Rob Ranck, who wanted to stay close and be in touch more frequently with his senior parents. They were on opposite ends of the United States, and every ordinary call carried a little more distance than it should have.

Rob and his family tried Skype because his dad had a notebook computer. It worked for a while, but setup questions and call problems made the experience fragile. As his dad's dementia progressed and his mom struggled with the computer, even an iPad did not make things easier.

His mom loved looking at family photos, so Rob bought a digital picture frame and configured it as carefully as he could. But it still was not plug-and-play for seniors, and remote management was missing.

The belief that stayed with us

Families should not have to choose between connection and simplicity.

That frustration became the starting point for ViewClix: create a frame that lets family share photos, video calls, and everyday moments without asking a senior loved one to manage an app, password, or complicated device.

1

Make it familiar

A frame should feel like part of the room, not another device to learn.

2

Let family help

Settings, sharing, and invitations can be managed by someone trusted.

3

Keep moments flowing

Photos, calls, and notes should arrive naturally, without daily effort from the senior.

A family company

A founding team shaped by technology and care.

Rob's decades of experience at companies including Intel and AT&T, along with startup experience, helped him begin prototyping ViewClix. To bring the idea to market, he turned to his son, Dennis, who was working in accounting for a technology company.

Cathy's caregiving perspective changed the product.

Cathy Ranck's 30+ years in senior caregiving helped keep the senior-facing experience practical, calm, and easy to use. Her understanding of what will and will not work for a senior remains one of ViewClix's key advantages.

Care at the center

The senior's experience comes first.

Every ViewClix feature is measured against the same standard: will this make connection easier for the person using the frame every day?

Upon request, a free copy of Cathy's book is included with the ViewClix Frame.
